Despite seeing no Lima beans in Lima it was still a beautiful city full of culture.
Lima was the departure city for a few of our new friends from Moose (our tucan travel truck) which meant we had many farewells (a few of which were tearful ones). Lima city is pretty big (it even had a Starbucks and a proper mall with shops I had heard of!) with scenic churches and buildings which made it easy to meander through the streets.
Our first stop was the Catacombs located in the San Francisco church in the main square. This church was quite beautifully decorated on the inside with a fair bit of gold stolen from the Incas I’m sure! Once inside we were able to head underground to visit the catacombs where bones of some 25,000 Lima residents are neatly stacked.
We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering the squares and gardens that Lima has to offer before saying goodbye to a few friends at a local sushi restaurant.
